Requirements regarding camping in Hawaii vary by jurisdiction, island, campsite, and facilities. The following information applies to the Island of Kauai. (There are no national parks on Kauai.) Note: Camping information is subject to change without notice. Please contact the applicable local office for current information.

A tradition for over sixty years. A rustic and peaceful atmosphere in the heart of the Kokee Forest in Waimea Canyon State Park. Surrounded by forty-five miles of maintained hiking trails, streams, rare plant and wildlife, the camp offers tent camping, hostel and group accommodations (see below). There is also a Caretakers Cottage for 2 people only with fully equipped kitchen, wood burning stove and a king size bed (sheets, pillows and comforter provided). $65 per night, 2 night minimum stay, $25 cleaning deposit.   • Tent Camping: 2 acres of open field space with a covered fire pit, BBQ area. Rates: $10 per person per night (non-resident); $7 per person per night (Hawaii resident).
  • Hostel: Weinberg Bunkhouse - total sleeping capacity is fifty in two dorm rooms. Separate baths and kitchens. Rates: $20 per person per night (non-resident); $18 per night (Hawaii resident).
  • Group Accommodations: Sloggett Lodge - a mountain retreat that sleeps eleven people. Dining and sitting areas, wood burning stove; kitchen facilities available; 800 sq. ft. lanai. Rates: $20 per person per night (non resident); $18 per night (Hawaii resident). Children age 5 and under are free. Minimum of 5 people weekdays and 8 people weekends (ten people weekends during peak season - May to September).

197-acre camp owned and operated by the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in an area of natural beauty - a rustic getaway located in the rolling foothills of Kahili Mountain. Centrally located - most scenic points can be reached in 40 minutes or less. Two hiking trails on the property. A limited number of furnished cabins and cabinettes are available. Rates: $55 to $110 per night for up to 4 people. Reservations are required especially during holidays.
