Take Hwy 19 N. from Kailua-Kona about 23 miles to Puako Beach Drive. Take first right onto Old Puako Road. Turn left between poles 69 and 70.

One of the island's most beautiful white sand beaches. Excellent swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving & windsurfing. Hazardous ocean conditions in the winter months during periods of high surf.

ANAEHOOMALU BAY
North from Kailua-Kona on Queen Kaahumanu Hwy (Hwy 19) to Mile Marker 76. Turn left at Mile Marker #76. Turn left at road across from Kings' Shops.

A long crescent of white sand - fronting the Waikoloa Resorts. A popular spot for windsurfing - many archaeological sites including two fishponds and a large petroglyph field. Good swimming, diving & snorkeling.

Parking, restrooms, showers, picnic tables, rentals, educational plaques.

Take Hwy 19 to sign for Mauna Lani at Kalahuipuaa Resort.

Swim and snorkel in the placid waters of Nanuko Inlet. Site of productive fishponds, active examples of ancient Hawaiian aquaculture.

KIHOLO
Take Hwy 19 north to public access road on the right between mile markers 82 & 83.Trail to beach (approx. 20-minute walk).

A long, wide unique bay that stretches for 2 miles. At the southern end is a beautiful, pristine, cold freshwater pond. At the northern end is a 5-acre lagoon that is home to many Green Sea turtles. Site of Kiholo-Puako Trail. Great swimming and snorkeling.
