HAENA STATE PARK (KEE
BEACH) Located at the end of Kuhio Highway (Hwy 56) in the Hanalei district. Site of Kee Beach, popular with swimmers & snorkelers. The park includes a large
number of ancient ruins of archaeological importance. During periods of high surf, dangerous
water conditions occur near shore.
TUNNELS BEACH
Located at Haena Point, off Kuhio Highway (Hwy 56).
One of the best windsurfing sites on Kauai. Home to a surfing break called Tunnels -
for experts only. Good shell beachcombing. During the winter and spring, high surf generates
dangerous water conditions.
LUMAHAI BEACH Located off Kuhio Highway (Hwy 56) at Wainiha.
One of the most popular North Shore beaches - has provided the background for many movies
including "South Pacific". The beach is 3/4-mile-long, very wide, and backed by
lushly vegetated cliffs. No protective reef - frequent high surf causes extremely dangerous
water conditions.
