#1 Akiko's is located on the beautiful Hilo-Hamakua
Heritage Coastline. Her B&B is located in the Village of Wailea,
near Kolekole Beach Park.
Here is another time, another place, the very best of old Hawaii with its own rhythm and pace. There is no T.V. and radio. There is a fine assortment of books and magazines on subjects ranging from backroad journeys to Buddhism. There are short walks and slightly longer hikes. The Volcano, sunny Kona, the rolling hills of Waimea, swimming with the turtles at Punaluu, are all a day trip away. |
| Suggested Morning Hike:
A 20 minute walk along a winding old country
road past waterfalls, mountain streams and lush tropical forests
of palm, kukui nut, breadfruit and mountain apple trees. Wild
mangoes and avocado lay strewn on the ground and the smell of
over-ripe guavas, yellow ginger and night blooming jasmine permeate
the air. Too much! Nature gone amok! This is the daily morning
6am hike. The walk goes to Kolekole Beach Park, where the river
meets the great open ocean and the sun bursts onto the horizon.
This is, of course, after (optional) daily morning meditation
from 5:00 to 6:00 a.m.
