10TH ANNUAL KAUAI WORLD CHALLENGE Date: Thursday - Saturday, April 19th - 21st, 2012 Place: Wailua Beach Park, Kapaa, Kauai Contact: Robin Jumper, (808) 635-3053, tyzaconsulting@gmail.com or to contact the race director: alohamike@fantasyhawaii.net The 3-day event begins with a “warm up” 10-mile paddle on Thursday on the North Shore followed by registration and expo on Friday afternoon. Then on Saturday, the main event, the 34-mile coastal relay race begins at Wailua Beach park. OC1 and OC 2 teams paddle from Wailua Beach to Salt Pond Beach Park with paddler exchanges at specific relay points. The first relay change is at Hanamaulu Beach Park, then on to Kalapaki Bay in front of the Kauai Marriott Resort & Beach Club. The paddlers perform their final exchange in Waiohai Bay in Poipu where they paddle to the finish at Salt Pond Beach Park. Ffifty percent travel from the outer islands and another fifteen percent come from the western United States, Australia, Tahiti and Canada. They range in age from 18-70, with the largest segment in the 35-50 age group. This extraordinary event offers residents and visitors an incredible view of the sport of outrigger canoe paddling at each exchange point during the relay. |

This is your opportunity to not only honor cancer survivors and remember people we have lost, but also to raise funds and awareness to help save lives.
