Many events are free of charge.
	INTERNATIONAL PACIFIC FREE DIVING-SPEARFISHING CHAMPIONSHIPS KAUAI Date: March 11th - 16th, 7pm, 2012 Place: Po`ipu Beach area, Kauai Contact: Jon Barretto, (808) 652-0636, JonBarretto@hotmail.com This annual competition, between the U.S., Australia, New Zealand, Tahiti, and New Caledonia will be held during the Prince Kuhio Celebration on Kaua`i in the Po`ipu Beach area. Teams of four free-divers compete to eventually go on to the global competition held later this year. On each day of competition, teams will free- dive within an area marked by one of three different buoy ranges off of Kaua`i's south shore. Catches are limited to certain types of fish. Divers are encouraged to go after invasive species, such as Roi, Toau and Ta`ape.
	HONOLULU JAZZ QUARTET AT THE KAUAI BEACH RESORT Date: Friday, March 16th, 7pm, 2012 Place: 4331 Kauai Beach Dr, Lihue, Kauai Contact: Kauai Concert Association, (808) 245-SING (7464), info@kauai-concert.org The Honolulu Jazz Quartet celebrates its 10th Anniversary with its release of "HJQ / Remembrance / Live at The Triple Door". The recording was made during a concert in Seattle, which was one of the stops on the HJQ's West Coast Tour in 2007. As the group looks forward to the next ten years, they have been busy writing new tunes and are looking forward to performing them for the concertgoers on Kauai! Adults $25 / Students $10
	INTERNATIONAL GARDEN ISLE TRI FEST - 2012 Date: Friday, March 17th, 7am - 12pm, 2012 Place: Kauai Marriott Resort, Kalapaki Bay, Kauai Contact: Carol Peacock-Williams, (808) 346-0990, mrgoodday2@yahoo.com Kids Duathlon, Aquathlon Splash & Dash (5k,750M,5K), 5K Run/Walk and SUP (Multi Tier) Paddle Event all done on Marriott Grounds. Awards will be on-site. Others can be created on-site if we should need an additional award. T-Shirts: we will attempt to have one for everyone but Early Registration will help insure you get a T-Shirt. AWARDS:we will have 1st thru 3rd in 5 year age breaks example (50-54) . Finisher medals we will have them for first 150 participants registered. March 17th is the middle of the month, a Saturday, and St.Patrick's Day!!! Sign up now and then plan to join us for a fun "green" event plus some "make your socks roll up and down" good food & door prizes afterwards. Maybe you will have the "Luck of the Irish" and win a prize donated by one of our local merchants.

	THE GARDEN ISLAND ORCHID SPRING FANTASY SHOW Date: Saturday, March 31st, 2012 Place: Hanapepe Hawaiian Congregational Church, 3815 Hanapepe Rd, Eleele, Kauai Contact: Joanna Carolan, (808) 335-5944 The Kauai Orchid and Art Festival showcases free Hawaiian music concerts, art exhibits, ono food and the Garden Island Orchid Society’s Orchid Show. Additional workshops for plein air painting and food demonstrations, as well as delicious local food vendors, will be available.

	2012 SANCTUARY OCEAN COUNT Date: The last Saturday of January through March (peak whale season), January 28th, February 25th, and March 31st, 8:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m, 2012 Place: The shores of O`ahu - O`ahu Site Descriptions, Hawai`i (Big Island) - Hawai`i Site Descriptions and Kaua`i - Kaua`i Site Descriptions Contact: Micki Ream (NOAA Education Specialist), (808) 694-3948, cell (650) 392-5448, micki.ream@noaa.gov The Sanctuary Ocean Count project offers the community a chance to monitor humpback whales from the shores of O`ahu, Hawai`i and Kaua`i. Not only has this proven to be a fun volunteer activity for residents and visitors, but it also helps to provide important population and distribution information on humpback whales around the Hawaiian Islands. Both site leaders and general volunteers are needed for all islands. Of course, the count cannot be done without the help of enthusiastic volunteers - we hope you'll consider taking part in this fun opportunity.
	DOUG & SANDY MCMASTER'S HAWAIIAN SLACK KEY GUITAR & UKULELE CONCERTS Date: Hanalei Concerts - Fridays at 4p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m., 2012 Place: Hanalei Family Community Center down the little dirt access road across from St. Williams Catholic Church (Malolo Rd.) by the Waioli Park Soccer Fields, Kauai Date: New Concert in Kapaa! - Slack Key Saturdays in Kapaa, Saturdays at 5 pm, 2012 Place: Na Keiki 'o Ka 'Aina Cultural Center located in the Kauai Village Shopping - Safeway/Longs - Under the Clock Tower, Kapaa, Kauai Contact: Doug & Sandy McMaster, (808) 826-1469, sandydoug@hawaiianslackkeyguitar.com One of a kind performance by Hawaiian slack key's most prolific composers, Doug & Sandy McMaster. Enjoy the magic soothing ambience of this fingerstyle, instrumental musical artform created by Hawaiian paniolo (cowboys) in the early 1800's. The longest running concert of it's kind, set in a relaxed, family style building in the hamlet of Hanalei on the north shore of Kauai nestled against the emerald green mountains, rich taro fields, incredible rainbows, with soft tradewinds carrying the sounds of surf and Hawaii's birds through the building.
