	SPECIAL EVENTS
	85TH ANNUAL LEI DAY CELEBRATION Date: Tuesday - Wednesday, May 1st & 2nd, 9am - 5:30pm, 2012 Place: Queen Kapi‘olani Regional Park Bandstand, Honolulu, Oahu Contact: Department of Parks and Recreation, (808) 768-3003, parks@honolulu.gov The Hawaiian Steel Guitar Association will play from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., in the lei exhibit/ho‘olaule‘a area (open area between the bandstand and the Waikiki Shell). The Lei Contest Exhibit will be open to the public from 1:00-5:30 p.m., in the open area between the bandstand and the Waikiki Shell. Come to Kulana Lei, a village of Hawaiian artisans, as they share their talents and skills with exhibits and demonstrations throughout the day (10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.). While at Kulana Lei, have the mo‘opuna (grandchildren) - come visit Tutu (grandmother) at Tutu’s Hale and hear stories, play Hawaiian games, learn a song, a hula, how to make a lei, and learn how to weave with lauhala. In addition to Kulana Lei, craft, lei and food vendors will also be in the park all day. All events are free and open to the public.
	“A HONG KONG NIGHT” - LIVE IN CONCERT Date:Thursday, May 3rd, 7pm, 2012 Place: The Hawaii Theatre, 1130 Bethel St., Honolulu, Oahu Contact: Box Office: Jimmie Bush (HKBAH President), JBush@chaneybrooks.com We are pleased to bring to the community the experience of Hong Kong Popular music (HK-Pop), Asia’s most popular music genre. It is the first time that such a live in concert is taking place in Hawaii. They will perform in Cantonese, Mandrian and English.
	LCC SPRING CHORALE CONCERT Date:Saturday, May 5th, 7pm, 2012 Place: Leeward Community College Theatre, 96-045 Ala Ike, Pearl City, Oahu Contact: Box Office: (808) 455-0385, LCCTheatre@lcc.hawaii.edu Local elementary and high school choruses join LCC’s Kanikapila Singers and Chorus Program. $5 Tickets are available only at the door.

	FARMERS MARKET ROYAL HAWAIIAN CENTER TUESDAYS ON THE ROOFTOP Date: Every Tuesday, 3:30pm - 7:00pm, 2012 Place: "On the Rooftop" - Level 4 - Building A, Royal Hawaiian Center, 2201 Kalakaua Avenue, Honolulu, Oahu Contact: Lei ‘Ohu Guest Services, (808) 922-2299 Perfect for the “locavore” foodie in the heart of Waikīkī, Royal Hawaiian Center will launch its new farmers market, showcasing twenty Hawaii vendors with locally grown produce, ‘ono (delicious) dishes, freshly cut flowers, specialty food gift items, and vendor demonstrations. Enjoy an assortment of locally made delicacies and beverages such as Pipikaula ‘O Kahalu‘u beef jerky, Malie Kai chocolate made from Hawaiian cacao grown on O‘ahu’s North Shore, Nalo Mele “just from the hive” honey, Pacifikool fresh and all natural island ginger ale, Happy Cakes’ pineapple macadamia nut fruit cake, Big Wave Tomatoes’ grilled pesto pizza, and more! Kahuku Farms, Ho Farms and Khamphout Farms will showcase a variety of fresh produce grown in the country including cherry and grape tomatoes, Japanese cucumbers, farm harvested vanilla beans, seasonal fruits, and taro leaves.
	BANK OF HAWAII FAMILY SUNDAY: LOCAL LIFE Date: Sunday, February 19th, 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. (Third Sunday of every month, activities stop at 3 p.m.), 2012 Place: Honolulu Museum of Art, 900 S. Beretania St., Oahu Contact: Lesa Griffith, (808) 532-8712, lgriffith@honolulumuseum.org Since 2004, Bank of Hawaii has made it possible for the Academy to open its doors to the public free of charge on the third Sunday of every month. The day offers a program of art activities, entertainment and film focused on an exhibition or art principle. Bank of Hawaii Family Sundays feature entertainment and activities suitable for families and people of all ages. Explore the Academy’s galleries through art hunts, art activities, demonstrations, film screenings and entertainment. Themes change monthly and tie in with the Academy’s permanent collections and special exhibitions. The Pavilion Cafe turns into a snack bar for Bank of Hawaii Family Sunday. The kid-friendly menu includes grilled all-beef hot dogs, sloppy joes, PB&J sandwiches and a variety of chips. Open noon-3pm.
	ALA MOANA HULA SHOW Date: Daily from 1pm to 1:20pm, Sundays - Keiki (child) Hula Show at 1pm, 2012 Place: Ala Moana Center, 1450 Ala Moana Blvd., Honolulu, Oahu Contact: (808) 955-9517 The Ala Moana Hula Show takes place at Centerstage from 1pm to 1:20pm. Discover the beauty of Hawaiian hula with our complimentary shows 7 days a week! The cultural performance features an emcee and six dancers, showcasing kahiko and modern hula dances. On Sundays, enjoy the Ala Moana Center Keiki (child) Hula Show at 1pm. The show demonstrates how the tradition of hula is being perpetuated through Hawaii's children.
	NO NA PUA (MUSIC FOR THE GENERATIONS) - KAPENA Date: Sunday, May 20th, Free concert every 3rd Sunday of the month from 5 to 6 p.m., 2012 Place: Plaza Stage at Waikiki Beach Walk, 227 Lewers St, Honolulu, Oahu Contact: (808) 931-3591 Free concert every 3rd Sunday of the month from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Plaza Stage at Waikiki Beach Walk - Multi Na Hoku Hanohano award winning group, Kapena, headlines the March Sunday Showcase at Waikiki Beach Walk. Formed in 1984, this talented musical band has released over 20 albums and has received numerous awards and accolades from Hawaii's music industry.
