Akiko's Buddhist B&B in wee Wailea Village has become synonymous with Mochi Pounding -- making Japanese good luck rice cakes for the New Year. This will be our 20th year!! We started 20 years ago as a neighbor event with 23 people and now hundreds come to experience the pounding of rice cakes in a small plantation village where there has been very little change. Lots of activities : Fortune telling, I-Ching readings, Temple of Gratitude prayers and blessings, massage, food vendors and CLASSIC $5 local style plate lunch, bamboo and new years floral arrangements, Hawaiian entertainment with Lito Archangel, Jazz and Hui Okinawa Kobudo Taiko drumming at NOON!!
