SIXTH ANNUAL GOODWILL GOES GLAM!

Honolulu, Hawaii �" It’s back, the highly anticipated Goodwill Goes GLAM! presented by Bank of Hawaii Foundation scheduled for July 20-23, 2017 at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall. Goodwill Hawaii has announced the selection of Kaypee Soh, well-known for his modern Pacific inspired design, to produce the annual fashion show that takes place at the opening night Gala held on July 20. The fashion show theme is “Art of Fashion” and will showcase how GLAM!orous one’s wardrobe and home can be using name-brand fashions, accessories, and one-of-a-kind household goods found at Goodwill. Also Executive Chef James Aptakin of Turtle Bay Resort has been selected to create a culinary masterpiece for the Gala menu.
“We’re excited and thankful that Kaypee Soh and Chef James Aptakin will be sharing their talents at Goodwill Goes GLAM! to support our mission to help local people find jobs,” said Katy Chen, Chief Operating Officer of Goodwill Hawaii. “Their contributions will help us to continue the legacy of excitement and prestige that Goodwill Goes GLAM! has come to be known for over the past five years.”
Soh is the co-founder of Somace Design, a branding and design company that collaborates with architects and interior designers to create custom artwork, signage, area rugs and textiles for the hospitality industry. He also has his own lifestyle brand, Kaypee Soh, which includes a women’s ready-to-wear collection and accessories that includes handbags as well as men’s Pacific shirts.
Prior to joining Turtle Bay Resort, Aptakin was the former Executive Chef at the Hilton Waikiki Beach Hotel, including its signature restaurant MAC 24/7. A champion for “Buy Local it Matters” and all products “Made in Hawaii,” Aptakin also owns a successful catering company, Layers of Flavor, and created a line of sauces with Wine Country Kitchens in Napa Valley. He recently won 1st place in the Seafood Division at the World Food Championships 2016.
Tables and individual seats are still available for purchase to attend the annual gala event that includes a three-course dinner and wine, the fashion show and features a 20,000 square foot pop-up marketplace of name brand fashions and items curated from community donations Goodwill Hawaii receives. New this year the GLAM! retail sale, July 21-23, will be FREE to the public. The GLAM! sale is a treasure trove of the best items that Goodwill Hawaii has to offer. These include designer fashions, shoes and handbags, vintage housewares, one-of-a-kind collectibles, and the island’s best collection of Aloha shirts �" all at affordable prices.
The highly successful Goodwill Goes GLAM! presented by Bank of Hawaii Foundation is now in its sixth year and raises awareness for Goodwill Hawaii’s mission to assist people who are having difficulty finding employment, offering them the services and tools they need to become self-sufficient and realize their potential. Over $280,000 was raised at Goodwill Goes GLAM! in 2016, and Goodwill Hawaii was able to assist more than 11,000 individuals with job training, counseling and placement programs statewide.
