All three plays were written by women exploring culturally diverse historical events from a female prospective. Chaminade is also featuring female students in every level of the production team.
The Virtue in Propaganda is an original piece by UHM graduate Michelle Huynh. Director and Chaminade faculty member, Chris Patrinos will present this as a radio show style, staged reading. A woman living in the countryside of Saigon adopts a young “lai” girl. Living in war-stricken Vietnam during 1974, the girl must learn to adapt to her surroundings especially when she is seen as the outcast of the village. The story follows her as she tries to overcome her battles with society, culture and family ties while trying to survive the war and political conflict consuming her village. The Virtue in Propaganda will “air” August 11 & 12, 7:30pm at the Loo Theatre.
