The East Hawaii Disability Legislative Forum planning committee announces the 2017 East Hawaii Disability Legislative Forum.  Please “Save the Date” for Thursday, September 7, 2017, from 3:00-7:00 p.m.   


            This year’s forum will be at Aunty Sally ‘s Luau Hale, 799 Piilani Street, Hilo.  The evening will start at 3:00 p.m. with registration, welcome and introduction, and the opportunity to network with other disability advocates.  During the forum, there will a conversation center with charts, each representing five important issues (Education, Employment, Healthy Living, Housing, and Transportation) where participants will be encouraged to prioritize their needs and concerns specific to each issue.


The program will officially start at 3:15 p.m., with short presentations on disability related topics such as adult dental, transportation services, and the value services and supports provide a recipient with a disability that promote integration and inclusion.   A panel of policymakers is scheduled from 5:00-6:30 p.m.  This session will be a moderated conversation with policymakers who will have the opportunity to respond to questions specific to the above four issues.
