The West Hawaii Disability Legislative Forum planning committee announces the 2017 West Hawaii Disability Legislative Forum.  Please “Save the Date” for Thursday, October 26, 2017, from 3:00-7:00 p.m.   


This year’s forum will be at the Old Kona Airport Pavilion, End of Kuakini Highway, Kailua Kona, Hi 96740.  The evening will start at 3:00 p.m. with registration, welcome and introduction, and the opportunity to network with other disability advocates.  During the forum, there will a conversation center with charts, each representing five important issues (Education, Employment, Healthy Living, Housing, and Transportation) where participants will be encouraged to prioritize their needs and concerns specific to each issue.


The program will officially start at 3:15 p.m. with speakers on topics such as adult dental and transportation services to persons with disabilities.  The last speaker will describe how her services and supports have enabled her to live a more independent life of integration and inclusion.   A panel of policymakers is scheduled from 5:00-6:30 p.m.  This session will be a moderated conversation with policymakers who will have the opportunity to respond to questions specific to the above four issues.
