STOP 1: KULA BOTANICAL GARDENS PHOTOGRAPH
START: KAHULUI AT HWY 380 & 36  
DIST/TIME: 18.5 Miles/Approx. 30 Mins.  
WATCH FOR: Mile Marker 8-Hwy 377  
 ROUTE:
  • Turn right off Hwy 380 onto Hwy 36 E & go 2 miles to Jct. Hwy 36 & 37
  • Turn right onto Hwy 37 & continue 7.9 miles to Jct. Hwy 37 & 377
  • Turn left onto Hwy 377 & continue on Hwy 377 to Mile Marker 8
  • Go short way (0.5 mile) beyond Mile Marker 8 to Kula Botanical Gardens (left side)

Stroll through acres of exotic plants. Gift shop.

STOP 2: GRANDMA'S COFFEE HOUSE PHOTOGRAPH

 ROUTE:
  • Turn left from Gardens onto Hwy 377 & go short way (0.6 mile) to Hwy 37
  • Turn left onto Hwy 37 & go 2.8 miles to Grandma's Coffee House
Great local coffee house: sandwiches, homemade pastries, grow their own coffee beans.

STOP 3: ULUPALAKUA RANCH PHOTOGRAPH
LEAVE: GRANDMA'S COFFEE HOUSE

WATCH FOR: Ranch Store and Offices  
 ROUTE:
  • Keep to right at fork by coffee house and continue to Ulupalakua Ranch Store
Vast cattle and sheep ranch (not open to public).

STOP 4: TEDESCHI WINERY PHOTOGRAPH

  • Continue to winery, just beyond ranch store
Hawaii's oldest winery set in the beautiful playground of former King David Kalakaua, the Merry Monarch. Sample Maui's fine homegrown wines/champagne. Winery tours at certain times during the day.

STOP 5: LA PÉROUSE OVERLOOK PHOTOGRAPH

WATCH FOR: Entrance to Private Rd.(Rt.Side)  
 ROUTE:
  • Continue 1.5 miles beyond winery to overlook of La Pérouse Bay at entrance to Private Road (en route, keep to right at fork in road)
Elevation 2,000 feet. Great view of La Pérouse Bay (site of Maui's last lava flow in the 1790's).




STOP 6: RICE MEMORIAL PARK PHOTOGRAPH

WATCH FOR: Jct. Hwy 37 & 377  
 ROUTE:
  • Turn around & return 7.2 miles to Grandma's Coffee House
  • Go another 2.8 miles to Jct. Hwy 37 & 377
  • Immediately past junction, turn right off Hwy 37 onto Lower Kula Road
  • Go to Rice Memorial Park at top of hill
Panoramic view of West Maui. Great picnic spot. Restrooms.




STOP 7: HOLY GHOST CHURCH PHOTOGRAPH

 ROUTE:
  • Continue on Lower Kula Road to the church, a short way (0.5 mile) beyond Shell Station
Beautiful church in upcountry Kula. Built in 1894 with the help of Portuguese immigrants to Hawaii. Nicknamed the "Wedding Cake" church because of its unusual octagonal design. Magnificent, recently restored interior.

STOP 8: ENCHANTING FLORAL GARDENS PHOTOGRAPH

 ROUTE:
  • Continue short distance (0.4 mile) to the end of Lower Kula Road at Hwy 37
  • Turn right onto Hwy 37 and go 1.8 miles to the Enchanting Floral Gardens of Kula (right side)
