STOP 1: BISHOP MUSEUM PHOTOGRAPH
START: WAIKIKI AT INTERSECTION OF KALAKAUA & KAPAHULU AVENUES  
DIST/TIME: Approx. 6.5 Miles / 15 Mins.  
WATCH FOR: Signs-Bishop Museum  
 ROUTE:
  • From intersection, take Kapahulu Ave. to H-1W
  • Take H-1W & go 4.4 mi. to Exit 20B (Houghtailing)
  • Take Exit 20B & go short way to Houghtailing St.
  • Turn Right onto Houghtailing St. & go short way to Bernice St. (traffic light)
  • Turn Left onto Bernice St. & go to museum (on left)
"The" state museum of natural and cultural history. Planetarium. Library, archives & gift shop open to public.

STOP 2: KEAIWA HEIAU PHOTOGRAPH
LEAVE: BISHOP MUSEUM PKG. LOT  
DIST/TIME: Approx. 8.8 Miles / 15 Mins.  
WATCH FOR: Aiea Shopping Center (Right Side)  
 ROUTE:
  • Turn Right onto Bernice St. & go short way to Kapalama Ave. (first stop sign)
  • Turn Left onto Kapalama Ave. & go short way to N. School St. (traffic light)
  • Turn Left onto N. School St. (which becomes Middle St.) & go 1.4 mi. to Hwy 78W (Moanalua Rd. -right side)
  • Take Hwy 78W & go 4.3 mi. to Stadium/Aiea Exit
  • Take Exit for Stadium/Aiea & go short way to Aiea Heights Dr. (by Aiea Shopping Center)
  • Turn Right onto Aiea Heights Dr. & go 2.7 mi. to entrance for Keaiwa Heiau State Recreation Area
A 15th century healing temple surrounded by medicinal plants and a network of hiking trails in a magical forest.

STOP 3: PLANTATION VILLAGE PHOTOGRAPH
LEAVE: KEAIWA HEIAU ENTRANCE  
DIST/TIME: Approx. 8.7 Miles / 30 Mins  
WATCH FOR: Signs-Plantation Village (Right Side)  
 ROUTE:
  • Return on Aiea Heights Dr. & go 2.7 mi. to Moanalua Rd. (at end of Aiea Heights Dr.)
  • Turn Right onto Moanalua Rd. & go 1 mi. to Kaonohi St. (at end of Pearlridge Center)
  • Turn Left onto Kaonohi St. & go to Hwy 99W
  • Turn Right onto Hwy 99W & go 2.2 mi. to W7101 (overhead sign-to Waipahu)
  • Bear Left onto W7101 (which becomes Hwy 90, Farrington) & go 2.1 mi. to Waipahu Depot Rd.
  • Turn Right onto Waipahu Depot Rd. & go short way to Waipahu St.
  • Turn Left onto Waipahu St. & go short way to Hawaii's Plantation Village entrance (left side)

STOP 4: TROPIC LIGHTNING MUSEUM

WATCH FOR: Macomb Road Traffic Light  
 ROUTE:
  • Exit onto Waipahu St. (Do Not Turn Right) & continue 1.3 mi. to Hwy 750N (Kunia Rd.)
  • Turn Right onto Hwy 750N & go 8.6 mi. to
    Hwy 99N (at fork in road)
  • Turn Left onto Hwy 99N & go short way (0.7 mi.) to Macomb Rd. entrance to Schofield Barracks
  • Turn Left onto Macomb Rd. & go to pkg. lot at rear of museum
Exhibits depicting the history of Schofield Barracks and the 25th Infantry "Tropic Lightning" Division-Hawaii's own.

STOP 5: DOLE & HELEMANO PLANTATIONS PHOTOGRAPH
LEAVE: TROPIC LIGHTNING MUSEUM PKG. LOT  
DIST/TIME: Approx. 2.8 Miles / 10 Mins.  
WATCH FOR: Sign-Dole Plantation (Right Side)  
 ROUTE:
  • Return to Macomb Rd. Entrance Gate
  • Turn Left onto Hwy 99N & go short way (0.6 mi.) to fork in road
  • Bear Right at Fork & continue 1.2 mi. on Hwy 99N to Jct. Hwy 99N & 80
  • Turn Left at Jct. & continue short way (0.8 mi.) on Hwy 99N to Dole Plantation entrance (right side)
Dole Plantation-varieties of pineapples grown worldwide. Helemano Plantation-people caring for people in a "real world" work environment.

STOP 6: KUKANILOKO BIRTHSTONES PHOTOGRAPH
LEAVE: DOLE PLANTATION PKG. LOT  
DIST/TIME: Approx. 1.6 Miles / 5 Mins.  
WATCH FOR: Whitmore Ave. Traffic Light  
 ROUTE:
  • Turn Left onto Hwy 99S & return short way (0.7 mi.) to Jct. Hwy 99S & 80
  • Bear Left at Jct. onto Hwy 80& go short way (0.8 mi.) to Whitmore Ave. (traffic light)
  • Turn Right at Whitmore Ave. onto dirt plantation road & go short way to parking for birthstones
One of the most sacred and culturally significant sites on Oahu. A complex of approx. 180 stones-some allegedly shaped to cradle the form of a female in labor, others with petroglyphs of human forms. As many as 800 years ago, Hawaiian royalty came here for the birth of their children.
