"NIGHT AT THE REEF" @ MAUI OCEAN CENTER

Maui Ocean Center celebrates International Year of the Reef in 2008 by launching a new program, inviting the public to visit the aquarium's Living Reef exhibits after-hours. Volunteers from local eco-organizations will be present with information on the state of Hawaii's coral reef eco-systems. Pupu and beverages will be available for purchase. www.mauioceancenter.com

MAUI PINEAPPLE FESTIVAL & HOMECOMING

A tribute to the islands' multi-cultural plantation heritage and all things pineapple, this festival takes place at the Maui Pineapple Co. headquarters in Central Maui from 9 am to 2 pm. Enjoy a pineapple recipe cook-off, Maui Pineapple/Kapalua country store, farmers market, Made-on-Maui products, pineapple food booths by nonprofit groups, crafts, a kids fun zone, ongoing live local entertainment and top name Hawaiian bands. Free admission and parking.

A TASTE OF LAHAINA & BEST OF ISLAND MUSIC FESTIVAL

Maui's largest culinary festival celebrates 16 years of tasting dishes from new & popular Maui County restaurants. Listen to continuous music with Hawaii's current & legendary musicians on stage. Held at Lahaina Recreation Park II ballpark off Honoapiilani Hwy. behind soccer field and Lahaina Aquatic Center; free parking. Admission; youth group fundraiser. Hours 5 to 10pm.

2008 MAUI - HAWAII HEALING GARDEN FESTIVAL

Maui Community College, Kahului: A statewide celebration of multi-cultural medicinal and nutritional plants of Hawaii. Polynesian, Hawaiian, Ayurvedic, Chinese, Filipino, cultural practitioners and ethno-botanists, will share their knowledge of Hawaii's rich botanical treasures. Featuring lectures, tours, workshops, adult and children's programs, a Healing Arts Fair and cultural entertainment. Evening Concert to be announced.Festivals are held Statewide on Kauai, Oahu, Maui & Hawaii Island. The Maui Festival starts September 27, at with Saturday's Celebration & Concert at Maui Community College, in Kahului. Additional tours, classes and workshops will be held Sunday September 28, though Tuesday September 30, at unique locations around Maui.
