Molokai Guesthouse & Cottage

Relax in another world, in another time, in the real Hawaii!
A comfortable guest house & unique round cottage
with spectacular forest and ocean views.

The View
       The Accommodation features:
  • Two guestrooms in the main house plus a two-room cottage built on stone pillars & accessed by a bridge from the guesthouse with an incredible view of Molokai's famous sea cliffs.
  • Each guestroom shares a full bathroom. The Kukui room has a king-sized bed while the Lehua room has one double and one twin-sized bed.
  • The cottage sleeps 4 & has a king size bed in one room & a daybed which converts into 2 single beds in the other room. It has A/C, TV, coffeemaker, refrigerator, shower facilities and a covered lanai.
  • All guests have the use of a large closed-in lanai, living room and kitchen in the main house.
  • Cable TV, Gas BBQ grill, VCR, Internet access, washer & dryer - just like home!

The Location:
Hale Malu Guesthouse is located on the west side of Molokai at Kalae near Kalaupapa Lookout, 1500' above sea level. It overlooks the surf crashing against the Moomomi sea cliffs. The area, 8 miles north of Kaunakakai Town and 2 miles east of the Kualapuu coffee plantation, is cool, lush and green.


Things to See & Do:
  • Take an ultimate scenic-adventure upon sure-footed mules to Kalaupapa National Historical Park
  • Hike, Bike, Swim, Horseback Riding
  • Golf at the Ironwood golf course
  • Visit the Molokai Museum & Cultural Center with its restored Sugar Mill
  • Tour the coffee plantation in Kualapuu and try their famous Mocha Mamas.

The Main House
 
Rates and Policies:
  • The Lehua and Kukui guest rooms: $50 per night per room (2 night minimum stay).
  • The Lookout Cottage: $80 per night (2 night minimum stay).
  • 11% tax extra.
  • Discounted rate for single travelers (3 night stay or more).
  • We accept cash or traveler's check. A 50% deposit is required to make a reservation
  • Cancellation policy of 7 days.
  • Check-in 1:00 p.m., check-out 12 noon (we are flexible whenever possible).
  • Inquire about our great weekly and monthly rates.

About Your Hosts:   Richard & Ilima
Richard and Ilima built their dream house and doubled it in size.
Richard moved to Molokai from Oregon 12 years ago.
Ilima, originally from Germany, lived on Vancouver Island for 45 years
and ran a B&B in Victoria B.C. in the summer.
Spending winters in Hawaii and deeply impressed
by the beauty and friendliness of Molokai,
Ilima moved to Moloaki in 2001 and married Richard.
Ilima paints watercolors of Molokai scenes
while Richard explores the forest on his A.T.V.
Their joy is to share the beauty of nature with their guests.
