June 1, A Garden Party
A private (General Electric) fundraiser to benefit The Friends of Iolani Palace.

June 8, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., Kamaaina Day at the Palace
Free admission to the Palace and the Galleries for residents of Hawaii and active military. Co-sponsored by Bank of Hawaii and The Friends of Iolani Palace

June 12 & June 26, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m., "Digging For Your Roots"
An introductory class to genealogical research. Instructors: Rhoda Kaluai & Fran MacFarland Fee: $25 for both sessions & syllabus, Class will be limited to 20 with preference given to Friends of Iolani Palace Members. Place: Old Archives Lecture Room. Sponsored The Friends of Iolani Palace.

June 21, 6 p.m., "Chanting: How We Came To Be"
A presentation of the Kumulipo, Ruby Kawena Johnson and Kamuela Chun.
Free admission. Reservations encouraged. Limited seating. Place: Old Archives Lecture Room. Co-sponsored by The Friends of Iolani Palace, The Committee for the Preservation and Study of Hawaiian Language, Art, and Culture (School of Hawaiian, Asian and Pacific Studies, University of Hawaii at Manoa), The Honolulu Academy of Arts and the Hawaii Literary Arts Council.

June 22, 2 p.m. "Chanting: How We Came To Be" repeat presentation
Place: The Doris Duke at the Honolulu Academy of Arts.

September 7, 3 p.m, Living Masters Concert Series
Featuring Masters and their Apprentices in the Living Masters Programs.
Free to the public. Place: Palace Grounds near Coronation Pavilion. Co-sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts, State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, and The Friends of Iolani Palace.

September 28. 4-8pm, The Grand Luau at Iolani Palace Grounds
In celebration of Queen Liliuokalani's 165th birthday, join us at the The Grand Luau, a fundraiser for The Friends of Iolani Palace. Featuring a traditional royal luau & musical program. Tickets: $50 per person. Call: Marie (808) 522-0822.

A three night lecture series focusing on the styles of Hawaiian chanting, featuring chanters who have received awards from the State Foundation and Culture and the Arts. Place: Iolani Palace - Old Archives Lecture Room. Free admission. Reservations encouraged. Co-sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts, The State Foundation On Culture and the Arts, and The Friends of Iolani Palace.

November 16, 12:01 a.m. Performance of the Kumulipo, The Hawaiian Creation Chant
(Performance starts at one minute past midnight on November 16)
Place: Iolani Palace Steps. Free to the public. Seating on the grounds.

November 16, Noon, "Review of the Royal Guard"
Place: Iolani Palace Steps. Free to the public. Seating on the grounds.
Co-sponsored by The Royal Guard (members of the Hawaii Air National Guard) and The Friends of Iolani Palace.

November 16, evening, "Mele Aimoku - In Praise of a King"
Place: Iolani Palace Steps. Free to the public. Seating on the grounds.
Co-sponsored by The Committee for the Preservation and Study of Hawaiian Language, Art and Culture, and The Friends of Iolani Palace.

November 16, A Birthday Celebration for a King
Place: Iolani Palace, Honolulu
The Friends of Iolani Palace invite the public to participate in our annual commemoration of King Kalakaua's Birthday. The Palace will be decorated in red, white and blue bunting and Hawaiian flags recreating the Palace decorations for King Kalakaua's Jubilee. The Annual Review of the Royal Guard will take place. Admission is free. Exact times TBA

December 26 & 27, 6 p.m. - 8:30 p.m., Evening Tours Commemorating the Birthday Of Queen Kapiolani.
Iolani Palace and the Palace Grounds will be decorated with lanterns as they were for festive events during the Monarchy period. Musical performances will take place on the steps of Iolani Palace. First come, first serve, $5 adult/$2 child, under 12 is Free. 6-8 p.m. Sponsored by The Friends of Iolani Palace.

Exhibition Opening of the History Gallery and King's Wine Cellar.
