FLOWERS OF ALOHAMAUI GROWNDRIED AND PRESSED HIBISCUS AND WILD FLOWERS |
Artisan Jim Murphy brings the ancient Japanese art form "oshibana" (pressed flower art) into the present. Jim grows over 60 varieties of hybrid hibiscus along the sunny slopes of Haleakala on the island of Maui. Picked by hand at their moment of perfection, the flowers are dried, pressed and sealed to preserve their beauty.
The artfully arranged hibiscus blossoms, singly or in groups, are double-matted. The unframed pieces that measure 12 x 12 inches are priced at $25.00 plus shipping.
Although the hibiscus (Hawaii's state flower) is his trademark, Jim also frequents the fields where wild flowers flourish to create his popular pressed flower arrangements. These include the exclusive "Maui Anela's" (angels) and "Hula Girls" made from native bark and wild flowers. Pieces measure 8" x 10" and are priced at $25.00.
Flowers of Aloha capture the beauty of the islands and provide a long-lasting memento from Maui.
