PACIFIC HANDCRAFTERS GUILD |
The Pacific
Handcrafters Guild (PHG) is a member organization promoting the
uniqueness of Hawaii's fine craft artists, their work and their
cultural and economic contribution in the State of Hawaii. The
PHG organization produces educational and promotional art and
fine craft events. The Guild was established in 1974 with the
intention of giving artists and craftspeople opportunities to
exhibit and sell their work. For over 30 years the PHG has distinguished
itself by incorporating educational displays and demonstrations
at all our events and maintaining high standards through a screening
process and on-going quality reviews.
PHG membership is open to anyone. Members can be "Active" or "Friends". You must be an Active Member of the PHG in order to participate in Guild events. "Bring-in" screenings for Active Membership are held twice a year, usually March and May. A "mail-in" screening is also available to make it easier to screen, especially for those not on Oahu. There is a fee for screening. "Bring-in" screenings generally involve bringing your art to the screening location in the morning; the art will be juried and you may pick up your pieces later. The "mail-in" screening will generally consist of sending in 4 slides (or photographs) of your work and 1 of a booth display, plus written descriptions of your work; the slides (photos) will be juried and they will be returned to you. You will be notified of all screening results by mail. To obtain an application you can download it from the Pacific Handcrafters Guild or you can call Jasmine Fontanilla at 845-0377.
