Liliuokalani Gardens, Big Island LILIUOKALANI GARDENS & COCONUT ISLAND Formal Japanese-style gardens connected by footbridge to little Coconut Island (Mokuola). In ancient Hawaii, Mokuola was famous for its curative spring waters and other healing powers. It was also a place of refuge for law breakers who could make offerings and leave as free men.

ONEKAHAKAHA BEACH One of several County Beach Parks along Hilo Bay. Swim in a large, sandy-bottomed pool protected by a breakwater.
