ANAEHOOMALU BAY

A picture-perfect seaside oasis, with freshwater springs, coconut trees, blue lagoon, and white sand beach. Many archaeological sites including 2 fishponds and petroglyph field.

PUAKO PETROGLYPH FIELDS

One of the largest and oldest petroglyph fields in the State.

PUAKO BAY

The many coves and tidal pools are great for snorkeling. The narrow white sand beach fronting the bay is popular with sunbathers and beachcombers. The sunsets are magnificent.

KAUNAOA BEACH (MAUNA KEA BEACH)

Considered one of the best beaches in Hawaii - long and wide with a sandy bottom for excellent swimming.

PUUKOHOLA HEIAU NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE

85 acres containing the ruins of Puukohola Heiau ("Temple on the Hill of the Whale") built by King Kamehameha I and property of John Young, who fought for Kamehameha during the period of his ascendancy to power.

KAWAIHAE BAY

A well-known breeding and birthing area for migrating humpback whales as they head north along the Kohala Coast (December to April).
