Haleakala National Park - Summit Area

HALEAKALA RANCH OUTPOST

Elevation 4,200 feet. A 30,000 acre historic working cattle ranch on the way to the Park entrance. Breathtaking views.

Elevation 6,800 feet. Located just inside the Park entrance. Thirty minute walk through a magical forest. One of the best spots on Maui for bird watching.

LELEIWI OVERLOOK

Elevation 8,800 feet. If cloud conditions are right, the "specter of the Brocken" can be seen (a full-circle rainbow around your own shadow projected onto clouds below you).

KALAHAKU OVERLOOK

Elevation 9,324 feet. Great view. Rare silversword plants can be seen in a special enclosure.

Once extinct on Maui, the Nene were re-introduced in the 1960s and now number around 300 in the Park.
